Barcelona Modernista Fair

Barcelona Modernista Fair

19th Barcelona Modernista Fair and Street Trade Fair
May 23, 24 and 25, 2025

A new edition of the Fair will be held on 23, 24 and 25 May in Carrer Bruc, between Avinguda Diagonal and Consell de Cent, and in the central lanes of Avinguda Diagonal, between Carrer Bruc and Carrer Girona.

This year’s Fair is dedicated to two women who distinguished themselves in the field of music: Conxita Badia i Millàs (Barcelona, 1897-1975), one of the most outstanding sopranos of the 20th century, on the 50th anniversary of her death, and Maria Lluïsa Ponsa i Bassas (Barcelona, 1875-1919), composer, pianist and writer, on the 150th anniversary of her birth. On 20 May, Casa Elizalde will host the Fair’s opening address, which will culminate with a small concert of their works.

The Fair itself will feature the premiere of the show M. Lluïsa i Conxita, dones i música entre guerres (M. Lluïsa i Conxita, Interwar Women and Music), which will be followed by a show for children, The Little Circus, thereby creating a continuous programme for all ages.

One of the new Modernista stands this year is the Sant Joan Despí Town Hall’s Centre Jujol – Can Negre, which showcases the old farmhouse renovated by Josep M. Jujol.

Another new addition will be presented on Friday afternoon by the Associació Memòria i Veus: Conxita Badia i el seu Entorn, with the staging of a workshop on the history of Conxita. This will be followed by the screening of the film Conxita Badia no existeix (Conxita Badia Does Not Exist), co-produced by TV3 and Batabat, followed by a film forum. Friday’s novelties will culminate with the street theatre show Galop sobre rodes (Gallop on Wheels).

Other well-known activities will also be present, such as the cavalcade of vintage vehicles, period dances and parade by the group Llum i Color del 900 – with the addition this year of a period performance in folding hand fan etiquette – trading card album, artisans and little train, among others.

You can also enjoy a bite to eat in the catering area of the Street Trade Fair, organised by Coreixample, and you will find a large stage with performances throughout the day: live music, family shows and concerts.

Come and enjoy the festivities surrounded by the Modernista buildings of the Dreta de l’Eixample neighbourhood. We look forward to seeing you there!
