18th Barcelona Modernist Fair and Trade Fair
May 24, 25 and 26, 2024
The Modernist Fair comes of age! On May 24, 25 and 26 it turns 18 in a new edition that will be held on Bruc Street, between Diagonal Avenue and Consell de Cent Street, and in the central lane of Diagonal Avenue, between Bruc Street and Girona street.
We will dedicate the Fair to the playwright and poet Àngel Guimerà i Jorge (1845-1924), the Catalan playwright who has enjoyed the greatest international projection and whose Any (Year) is celebrated in commemoration of the 100 years since his death. On May 21, at Casa Elizalde, we will present the Modernist Fair with a conference on Guimerà and Modernism by the specialist Ramon Bacardit, curator of the Any.
As a novelty, this year we will have an unprecedented dance and artistic expression show designed expressly for the Fair and dedicated to Àngel Guimerà. In the area of modernist stops in the world we will find three new features: the presence of CHROMA, a leading company in the conservation and restoration of heritage, also modernist; the Tibidabo amusement park, which returns and will hold an exhibition of the Tibitour, its historical guided tour of the park, and the Acicac Foundation, which will show us its activities around the heritage of Catalonia. This year's Friday juggling workshop will be more complete and will include a spectacular display and decoration.
We will also have, like every year, the Clàssic Motor Club del Bages car parade; Llum i Color of the 900 and its representations; the sticker album, this year dedicated to Guimerà – boys and girls, come and we will give it to you! –; the modernist photography stop, where if you come dressed in period clothing we will give you a photo of yourself in a modernist setting; the manned model train; modernist itineraries; a playroom; live music; workshops, and a long series of activities for all ages.
The Fira will also feature artisans and stalls of traders and professionals from the neighbourhood associated with Coreixample, where there will be workshops, demonstrations and modernist itineraries. There will also be a children's play area for the little ones to enjoy the Fira. There will also be a restaurant area with a large stage offering a constant programme of live music, exhibitions and children's activities, including a concert by La Golden Beat, disc jockey César de Melero and a family show by La Xaxi Band, among others.
