Barcelona 17th Modernista Fair & 1st Trade Fair
19, 20 and 21 May 2023

This new edition of the Fair, to be held on 19, 20 and 21 May, will have a new location for this year only, in Carrer Bruc between Avinguda Diagonal and Carrer Consell de Cent, given that our usual location, in Carrer Girona, is currently undergoing construction work.

The Fair will be dedicated to the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner (Barcelona, 1849-1923) to mark the celebration of Domènech i Montaner Year in 2023, which in turn commemorates the 100th anniversary of his death. We will therefore present the Fair in Casa Elizalde on 16 May, followed by the architects Lluís Domènech i Girbau, a descendant of the architect, and Claudia Sanmartí, co-curator of the Domènech i Montaner Year, talking to us about the architect’s extensive oeuvre. Our album of stickers, which will be handed out free of charge to all children attending the Fair, will also be dedicated to Domènech i Montaner. As a new feature this year, a dance and physical theatre show entitled La Barcelona imaginària (The Imaginary Barcelona) will be staged on Saturday and Sunday, produced expressly for this edition of the Fair in order to learn more about this Catalan architect. There will also be a children’s workshop dedicated to his work in the Modernista stand area.

Another new activity this year will be the exhibition in Carrer Provença throughout the Fair of an antique vehicle known as the “Genoveva”, from the Barcelona City Council’s Office for Resources – Vehicle Pool, giving visitors a chance to see what these mechanical devices of the early 20th century were like.

And also for the first time in the Modernista stand area, we will have the participation of Timisoara City Council, which will be attending the Fair to show us the Art Nouveau heritage of this Romanian city.

The juggling workshop on Friday will bring us yet another novelty, as this year it will be more complete and include a spectacular display and decoration.

Our regular attractions will also be there, such as our little train, 9th cavalcade of vintage vehicles by the Clàssic Motor Club from Bages, period dances and parade by the group Luz y Color del 900 and also period photography and artisans, all surrounded by a lot of atmosphere and Modernisme!

On the other hand, the Fair will also feature artisan stalls and stalls of local stores and professionals from the neighbourhood associated with Coreixample, where workshops and activities will also be held.

Also, for the first time, there will be a toy library with activities throughout the three days of the fair, guided tours with great cultural interest and there will be a large stage in the restaurant area, with a constant program with live music, disc jockey, exhibitions, workshops and party! A lot of partying!
